It is no secret that drinking water is good for your skin. But just how good? And have you ever actually tested the theory?

Good news for you: I have.

It took me hitting my (mumbles incoherently) thirty-somethings, and starting to see more of my mother when I looked in the mirror, to realize that my skin was doing a little begging.  The kind that begins with “PLEASE” and ends with “TAKE CARE OF ME.”

As part of an overall commitment to health, I had decided to ditch the soda and fill up on water.  Admittedly, my initial motivation was more my tummy than a tightening of my skin, but OH THE BENEFITS!

These are some of the big-time benefits for staying hydrated:

1) Boosts your mood

2) Helps you to lose weight

3) Can be a natural remedy for a headache

4) Can help with digestion

But let’s talk skin.

When you are drinking enough to truly keep you hydrated—which means you don’t reach a point of thirst—you’ll notice a number of benefits for your skin:

1) Your skin will be tighter since the water you are taking in will be replenishing the tissue.

2) The water intake naturally increases the elasticity of your skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines.

3) Staying hydrated allows your body to spare more water to your skin, naturally helping to keep it moisturized and radiant.

So, friends… drink up. And allow your skin to enjoy summer just as much as you are.
