It’s not rocket science to predict that over time we just might develop wrinkles and begin to look more like our parents and grandparents. Aging is part of life and, at least on some level, we’re all prepared to lose the tight skin we see in our 20s. Despite this, we still want to look our best. We know wrinkles are inevitable, but do we know how early we should be worried about them?
The answer to this question can be a little complicated if the focus is placed on wrinkle creams and other items that are typically thought of as “anti-aging” products. These do not warrant a “one size fits all” prescription due to the varying ingredients used in brands and individual skin conditions. The best method for determining when these products should be used is to consult a skin care professional. However, these products are not the only ways to keep signs of aging at bay.
Developing habits for care and maintenance of anything from a car to a pair of shoes will make it function better, last longer and continue to look like new. The same applies to our skin. If we take care of our skin on a daily basis and start a skin care routine to keep skin in its optimal health condition, we can prolong our youthful appearance. If effective skin care begins as a daily ritual in teen years, the stretching, laxity and sagging of facial skin can be delayed for as long as 10-15 years!
While the time to start using anti-aging products may differ based on the individual, it’s never too early to fight against the environmental factors that cause signs of aging. In fact, the biggest cause of aging appearance is damage from sunlight/UV exposure. If we want to look less aged, let’s begin by using a daily broad spectrum sunscreen. Using sunscreen with UVA and UVB protection like Theraderm Platinum Protection Facial Sunscreen along with the Theraderm Skin Renewal System early in life will help you achieve younger looking skin, even at your 30 year high school reunion!
