Summer is here and that means the heat and humidity is here too.   This translates to oily shine on our faces.  Lucky for you, we have a few simple tips to help keep that shine under control and you looking fresh all day!

Use an oil-control cleanser.  This works even if you aren’t experiencing break-outs.  A cleanser formulated for acne will control oil production and give you a matte finish.  You can also alternate with a gentle cleanser if you  find using the acne cleanser  too drying.

Slather on the sunscreen.  Select one that is oil-free and you may be surprised at how well it can help combat oil and shine!  Skip the moisturizer instead using a sunscreen with oil-absorbing, micronized zinc-oxide.  Also make sure it has broad-spectrum protection and is protecting your skin from both UVA and UVB rays.

Lighten up the makeup!  Summer is the perfect time to go lighter on the foundation.  Not only is your skin sun-kissed with color, but foundation just feels heavier when the temperatures soar!  Additionally – it has a tendency to melt into pores and clog them.  Use a tinted moisturizer, a mineral powder or better yet….nothing at all!

Lay off the night cream.  Now is the time to switch to a hydrating gel or serum and stop using the night cream until drier weather returns.  Make sure the gel or serum is packed with antioxidants to give your skin a healthy glow!

Blotting papers are your friend!  Don’t relay on a powder which can build up and look cakey and thick by the end of the day.   Instead, toss a  pack of facial-blotting papers in your purse or backpack and be on your way.  You can use them as often as necessary throughout the day so not worries of build-up!

Drink plenty of water.  When your skin is hydrated, it lessens the probability it will produce additional oils.  So drink up!

These are the simple tips we came up with, now it’s your turn!  What tips to do you have for keeping your face oil-free?
