“Beauty is only skin deep but ugly goes straight to the bone.”

~ Dorothy Parker

They’re unforgettable, aren’t they?

That book with a gorgeous cover, the one you’re compelled to read because the cover art is an inescapable siren’s call to pick it up, turn it over in your hands, study–and expectant–imagine what awaits you in its pages. ┬áYou finally begin reading but quickly discover its start is wretched! ┬áYou persevere, optimistic and hopeful.

It never gets better.

Finally, you cut your time loss and shelf it until the next yard sale or Goodwill delivery, disappointed that you were duped by a pretty face with no substance.

I can think of a few people like that.

Beautiful people, I call them–flawless skin, impeccable style, stunningly attractive…

and then they open their mouths.

Mean words spew like venom. ┬áEntitlement is demanded. ┬áOr maybe there’s just a sense they believe they’re better than you, spoken in glances not words–the worst!

Conversely, can’t you think of a few people who were, upon first notice, rather unremarkable? ┬áBut then you get to know them, and charm, grace and kindness seeps from their pores in word and deed, and they suddenly “become”
b e a u t i f u l.

The truth is, they were beautiful all the time…it just took a while to see their beauty.

Inner beauty.

Lasting beauty.

Real beauty.

It’s important to take care of your body. ┬áIt’s the right decision to make the most of what God has given you. ┬áMany health and beauty sites are great at sharing product reviews and beauty tips but stop short of “whole person” beauty; that’s why I’m excited about this site. ┬áTherapon Skin Health┬« has devoted this digital space to bringing you content rich in wisdom for tending your outer and inner beauty.

Cultivating inner beauty begins with careful consideration to what you’re feeding your mind. About 2000 years ago beautiful, wise words were recorded in Scripture that have bearing on true beauty–

“Finally…whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirableÔÇöif anything is excellent or praiseworthyÔÇöthink about such things.” ~ Phillipians 4:8 NIV

No, real beauty isn’t a state of mind but it begins there. ┬áIf you’re mind-feasting on true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent things, even your bones are going to be pretty!

Your turn: Do any of you remember “GIGO” from back in the day? ┬áDo you agree/disagree with my inner-before-outer beauty premise? ┬áI’m curious to know your thoughts!
