Rule #1: Don’t ever go to sleep without removing all traces of makeup, including mascara.

One tip from makeup artists is to go slowly, apply a makeup remover and let it sit for a bit. This can help soften mascara, liner, and shadow so it comes off easily without pulling and tugging at the delicate skin around your eyelids. It can also work to remove the smudges that greet you in the bathroom mirror in the morning.

Makeup wipes are a common go-to product for many women, but they may still leave some makeup residue even after you use them.

Eye Makeup:

You may choose to use a micellar water first or an oil or balm for stubborn long-wear mascara, liners and liquid shadows.

Flat cotton pads are your best bet. Try Theraderm’s Gentle Action Application Pads, which are soft and oversized, to wipe off your all your makeup. Take a cotton swab and wipe under the lower lashes and on your eyelids by the lash line for any spots you may have missed.

Face Makeup:

Follow with Theraderm’s Cleansing Wash, which is soap-free and oil-free to work for all skin types. This gentle facial cleanser thoroughly cleanses skin of dirt, oil and debris. Its mild, soap-free formula will leave your skin feeling smooth, soft and refreshed without drying. Leave the giant 16 oz. size in your shower for daily use.

Before you go to bed, make sure that you have removed all of your makeup efficiently to avoid clogging pores and causing breakouts, no matter how exhausted you may be.
