Summertime has come and gone, and everyone is starting to bring out the soups and stews and put away the fresh salads and smoothies.

NOT SO FAST!

Just because winter is coming doesn’t mean you should start hibernating and storing fat for posterity. We do not live in those times anymore. You want to keep your body free of toxins all year long, and one great tool for cleansing the system is green smoothies.

Smoothies are easy to throw together, perfect for eating on the go, and because they contain all the fiber from the fruits and veggies (unlike fruit juices), they can help cleanse your digestive tract.

This is my favorite cleansing smoothie recipe.

Ingredients:

1/2 pear
1/2 apple (I throw it all in – core, stem, seeds and all!)
1 frozen banana
3 or 4 collard green leaves or kale leaves
water/ice

Instructions:

Put it all into a blender or Vitamix and blend. Yep. That’s it.

Have one of these every morning for a week, and you’ll stay swimsuit ready all year round!
