We ladies tend to give much time and attention to taking care of our faces, but have you looked at your hands lately?

I happened to look down at my hands the other day, and I actually gasped out loud. They looked all withered and dry and wrinkly.

What is that!?

I’ve heard that it is often your hands that will show your age before your face, but I hadn’t given much thought to it until I caught a glimpse of my dried out hands.

I am good about applying sunscreen to my face daily during the summer months, and if I’m in the sun for more than an hour, I will apply some to my arms and legs. But I think my hands get neglected.

Add to that the dozens of dishes I do every day and you have a recipe for disaster . . . or aging . . . same thing, right?

Enter the hand mask.

If you’re anything like me, you take great care of the skin on your face, and maybe even your neck, but you neglect your hands. A weekly hand mask is a great way to restore moisture and balance to the abused skin on your hands.

The first thing you want to do is exfoliate. Just like your face and your arms and legs, your hands need exfoliation to rid them of the old, dead skin cells. Therapon’s NuPeel Natural Enzyme Peel is the perfect gentle exfoliant for your  hands and body.

Follow up with their Body Restoration Creme, or if you are extremely dry, their Extreme Dry Skin Therapy. Apply while your hands are still moist from rinsing off the NuPeel so as to trap in the moisture.

Then, this is the key: Pull a pair of old cotton tube socks or cotton mittens over your hands and sleep in them all night long. This will keep the moisturizing lotion from evaporating or soaking into your bed sheets instead of your hands.

Do this once a week — maybe even twice during the winter months, and your hands will soon look as young as your face!
