A Challenge for you: Drink Only Water
I have a challenge for you – and this challenge is based on two things….
1) the notion that this is something I consider hard to do (therefore, I am attempting to tackle a flaw)
2) we like to talk about skin health around these parts and this challenge? well…. it would be really good for your skin – among other things.

Now…. before I let you in on the specifics, I want to explain the origin of this challenge. As challenges often do, this one has its origins in a dare. A dare from my husband. In the form of a sentence that began something like this, “I bet you can’t…..” And you know…. that naturally means I will TRY to do whatever it is this man is certain I can’t do, correct? I don’t know if that is how your DNA operates, but it is how mine does… especially in relation to my husband. Unfortunately, I think he knows this.
I do something that makes my husband crazy. I drink soda. Yes, I know it is bad for me. My consumption ebbs and flows. Some weeks, I barely have any and other weeks, it is all I drink. He? Only drinks water. In a social setting, he may have a glass of wine of a beer… but day to day? Only water. No coffee or tea. No Gatorade. No ice tea. And no soda.
So he dared me. Drink only water for a whole week. And drink a lot of it.
Heaven knows it would be good for me. Do you need a refresher on the benefits?
*healthy, brighter, hydrated skin
*Improves skin tone
*controls appetite
*prevents dehydration
*helps digestion
*fewer cramps
*reduces fatigue
*decrease headaches
Speaking of headaches, I wanted to be prepared as I accepted this challenge – knowing full well, I could suffer caffeine- withdrawal headaches. So, if you, like me, are substituting water for a traditional glass of caffeine, here are a few tips for you:
- If you can, nap through it
- Take an over the counter: Tylenol or Ibuprofen
- Drink lots of water!
- Peppermint (often used in the form of peppermint tea)
You have been told, at least as many times a as I have that you should be drinking at eight 8 ounce glasses of water a day. So, are you in? Substituting ALL of the liquids in your diet for water? One week and one week only – you can do it. And this is just for your day to day drinking. (It doesn’t include going out a date with your spouse on a Friday night – I will give you a pass for that!)
I’m all ready to go. Make sure to come back here to keep me updated!
